Today marks a pretty big moment for Smite on Xbox one. While it is still in open beta, HiRez Studios released a pretty sizable patch adding some addition a new map, two new gods, several god skins, some UI restructuring and additions, character balancing, and most importantly ranked League. If you are at all familiar with the MOBA gaming scene you will know that it is extremely competitive. So competitive that some new players often give up prior to actually experiencing the games for what they are. The competitive nature of this community can sometimes be extremely toxic, that's a completely separate issue but Smite on Xbox is now entering that phase.
The patch was released early this morning and everything that is included can be found here (Patch Notes) Or a quick overview can be found in this video:
I am a new Smite player on Xbox so I am very excited for this patch. I have a bit of work cut out for me however because in order to play ranked league with my friends player need to be level thirty and master sixteen gods. It takes several games with each god to master them so there is a lot of playing non-ranked until we can really figure out how good we are.
If you haven’t tried out Smite yet on the Xbox one you should really give it a shot. It is in open beta right now with a good chance of the full release being this year. It has a pretty good free to play model set up but If you buy the Founders pack you get all gods plus any future gods they HiRez releases. Right now there are about sixty gods to pick and choose from but free players get a weekly rotation of five gods.
Hirez and the Smite community is pushing for an eSports scene on Xbox with notable teams adding a specific Xbox squad for tournaments. So if you are looking to get into competitive MOBAs with a growing community and want to get a head start, get Smite on Xbone.
